Job Summary

EMT's respond to all requests for emergency and non-emergency services. EMT's administer life saving measures as defined by State of Oklahoma and Kiowa Casinos' Protocols. [ Applications for EMT, EMT-I or EMT-A being accepted, qualifications for EMT-I listed below ]

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

> All Team Members must embrace and deliver Kiowa’s Guest Service Standards to every Guest on every shift, as outlined in Orientation, the Team Member Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and any other related training.
Consistently ensures an exceptional level of service and satisfaction is achieved throughout the property, exceeding the expectations of external and internal Guests alike in a timely and effective manner.
Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.
Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities.
Responds to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and transports the patient to a medical facility
Determines the nature and extent of illness or injury and establishes priority for required emergency care.
Duties include but are not limited to, opening and maintaining an airway, ventilating patients, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, including use of automated external defibrillators.
Provide pre-hospital emergency medical care of simple and multiple system trauma such as controlling hemorrhage, treatment of shock (hypo perfusion), bandaging wounds, and immobilization of painful, swollen, deformed extremities.
Assists in management of respiratory, cardiac, diabetic, allergic, behavioral, and environmental emergencies, and suspected poisonings.
Searches for medical identification emblem as a clue in providing emergency care. Additional care is provided based upon assessment of the patient and obtaining historical information. These interventions include assisting patients with prescribed medications, including sublingual nitroglycerin, epinephrine auto-injectors and hand-held aerosol inhalers.
Provides oxygen, oral glucose, and activated charcoal.
Reassures patients and bystanders by working in a confident, efficient manner.
Avoids mishandling and undue haste while working expeditiously to accomplish the task.
Where a patient must be extricated from entrapment, assesses the extent of injury and gives all possible emergency care and protection to the entrapped patient and uses the prescribed techniques and appliances for safely removing the patient. If needed, radios the dispatcher for additional help or special rescue and/or utility services. Provides simple rescue service if the ambulance has not been accompanied by a specialized unit. After extrication, provides additional care in triaging the injured in accordance with standard emergency procedures.
Complies with regulations on the handling of the deceased, notifies authorities, and arranges for protection of property and evidence at scene.
From the knowledge of the condition of the patient and the extent of injuries and the relative locations and staffing of emergency hospital facilities, determines the most appropriate facility to which the patient will be transported, unless otherwise directed by medical direction. Reports directly to the emergency department or communications center the nature and extent of injuries, the number being transported, and the destination to assure prompt medical care on arrival.
Identifies assessment findings, which may require communications with medical direction for advice and for notification that special professional services and assistance be immediately available upon arrival at the medical facility.
After each call, restocks and replaces used linens, blankets and other supplies, cleans all equipment following appropriate disinfecting procedures.
Attends continuing education and refresher training programs as required by employers, medical direction, licensing or certifying agencies
Performs other directly related duties consistent with the level of certification, role and function of the position as assigned.
When idle will perform all duties as required of Kiowa Casinos Security Officers except stand any post that must be relieved prior to reacting to emergency call
All other duties as assigned.
Must adhere to departmental, organizational, state, and federal safety rules and regulations, applicable processes for safe operation, appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, in addition to any/all related controls for personal welfare and the safety of others.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA)

Specifics Required:
> High school diploma or GED required
At least 21 years of age
Current Oklahoma and National Registry EMT-I Certification 
Valid Driver’s License and be insurable on Company’s Policy

Preferred:
Working knowledge of the Gaming Industry and the laws and regulations governing gaming operations
1 year experience in an active 911 system

Abilities Required:

Ability to operate most office equipment (computer, fax, copier, etc.)
Ability to independently lift up to 50 pounds daily
Ability to work under extremely stressful situations which result from a building fire, emergency medical and hazardous materials responses, including the responsibility for remaining calm, and carrying out all duties with the recognition of the threat to life and property

Physical Demands / Work Environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate using written, oral, and computer methods.  Must be able to operate computer equipment (for extended periods of time).  Must be able to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for periods in excess of 8 hours.  Must be able to walk, sit, and/or stand for long periods of time.  Must have a good sense of balance, and be able to bend and kneel.  Must be able to push, pull, and grasp objects.  Must have near sight, color vision and depth perception.  Must have the ability to independently lift up to ­50 pounds daily.

 WORKING ENVIROMENT: Office, gaming floor, and convention center environment, to include; flashing lights, frequent loud noises, and cigarette smoke. Extensive computer use. Must be flexible with work schedule. Must be willing to work any hours and/or shift, as assigned, according to business needs. Occasionally must deal with angry or hostile Guests. High volume, direct public contact.
